First Cub Scout Campout

Our first Cub Scout campout at Camp Tuckahoe was a huge success.  Most of his den attended and they had a great time playing on the huge pirate ship and around the fort, which doubled as our cabin.  Due to the freak snow storm the weekend before, we were upgraded to this fort due to safety concerns (too many falling limbs for tents).  To cap off the weekend, we all spent some time around the campfire roasting marshmallows and telling stories.  It was a great experience for the kids.

The kids were unbelievably ecstatic that it snowed 6″ a couple days before Halloween.  What an early season treat!!

Hershey Half Marathon

I’m hooked…I had a great time running in my first 1/2 marathon.  I finished in 1:49 which was good enough for 717th place out of 5000.  The best part was running into Hersheypark Stadium to the cheers of hundreds of spectators.  What a motivator…

Myrtle Beach

Every other year we make the 10 hour trip down to Myrtle Beach with Becky’s parents.  This time around we didn’t have to contend with a hurricane and the weather was absolutely perfect.  Most of the time was spent between the beach and the lazy river, but we also hit the aquarium, a children’s museum and Boardwalk on the Beach for a meal at a Japanese steakhouse.

Construction Derby

Just when we thought the kids were over the construction phase, we found ourselves at our fifth consecutive construction rodeo.  Nathan drove an excavator and it appears Rachel has what it takes to be a second generation mason.  They both did an excellent job putting out the fire.  Another fun day!!

It’s hard to believe, but the summer is over and it is time to head back to school.  Nathan’s now in 1st grade and Rachel is starting her 2nd year in pre-school.

Oglebay Resort

We met Becky’s family for a week of relaxation at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV to end the summer.  The kids spent a lot of time at the pool and playing in the cabin, but one of the neatest things they did was go horseback riding.  We also hit the driving range a couple times.

Seven years old…seven!!!  I can’t believe it.  This year Nathan decided to have his birthday party at Monkey Joe’s which provided a couple hours of pure joy.
